Holiday Travelers can expect Cheaper Flights, Packed Hotels, and Lots of Boomers
Holiday season is upon us and that means a frenzy of travelers taking to the skies and hitting the roads. This year, travelers can expect to find cheaper flights, packed hotels, and lots of boomers joining them on the journey.
Airfare in the U.S. is at its lowest price since 2015 according to the latest data from travel analytics firm, Diio by Cirium. The data shows that airfare in the U.S. this year is down nearly 5% compared to this time last year. And, if you’re booking holiday travel, now is a great time to buy as prices are continuing to drop.
However, with the decrease in airfares, many people are expected to take advantage of the savings and hop on planes during the holiday season. That means that hotels in many popular destinations will become quite crowded. not to worry though, as many hotels are re-imagining their services to include contactless check-in, more options for Cancellations, and flexible check-out in order to help alleviate safety concerns and lend a helping hand to travelers.
Finally, as many of us know, the boomer generation is firmly on-the-go and this year is no exception. Data from the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP) shows that more than 80% of seniors surveyed indicated they plan on traveling in the second half of 2020. The same number also said that the availability of nearby health care locations was a deciding factor in their choice.
With the combination of lower airfares, packed hotels, and boomers aplenty, holiday travel season is definitely going to be a unique one. However, despite the challenges, most people plan on making the best of the situation and creating lasting memories.
We wish all of our readers happy and safe travels this season. Enjoy!
