As America continues to race towards the 2020 presidential election, the stakes are higher than ever. This is especially true considering the most recent Fox News poll revealing that President Donald Trump is dominating Democratic Presidential candidate Joe Biden when it comes to voters under the age of thirty.
According to the Fox News poll, President Donald Trump currently holds an eleven-point lead over Joe Biden among the coveted demographic of potential voters aged 18-29. The poll was conducted October 18th-21st of 1000 registered voters and included both landlines as well as mobile phones.
While Joe Biden’s lead with voters in their thirties and above is in the double digits, his support among voters aged eighteen to twenty-nine is significantly lower. Only 43 percent of the Fox News poll’s respondents in this age bracket stated that they currently plan to vote for Biden, while 54 percent of the same demographic are supporting President Trump.
This data is particularly relevant when compared against the results of the 2016 Presidential election when Hillary Clinton won the majority of support among voters aged eighteen to twenty-nine by a margin of fifty-five percent, while only thirty-six percent supported then-candidate Donald Trump.
According to the poll’s findings, Joe Biden is particularly struggling to secure support among male voters aged eighteen to twenty-nine, with only 27 percent reporting that they plan to vote for the Democratic Presidential candidate. An eye-opening sixty-six percent of the same demographic stated that they plan to vote for President Trump.
Despite the overall results of the Fox News poll, it’s important to note that the results are within the poll’s three-point margin of error. The support garnered by Joe Biden and President Trump could still shift before election day and it’s important for Americans to make sure they are properly educated on the candidates before casting their ballots.
